Annette, 72 years old
Annette was diagnosed with pelvic organ prolapse, along with stress urinary incontinence. In order to treat these issues, a robotic total laparoscopic hysterectomy with bilateral salping-oopherectomy (uterus and both ovaries and tubes were removed), uterosacral ligament suspension (for prolapse), posterior repair (for prolapse), and TOT sling (for urinary incontinence) were performed. When asked about her experience four weeks postoperatively, she only had positive things to say.
"I am absolutely pleased with the results of my surgery. Fixing the prolapse has changed my life; I can sit without worrying about being irritated. I am no longer uncomfortable; feeling like something is hanging out of my body. I don't have to worry about leaking urine any longer due to the bladder sling. I was absolutely pleased with Dr. Agosta and the rest of the staff, they were all very friendly and attentive. After my surgery the recovery went perfect. Claudette, 75 years old
Claudette was diagnosed with a mixed pattern of urinary incontinence (stress and urge), with her symptoms of urge incontinence being the primary problem. Claudette could not tolerate the overactive bladder medications and therefore this was not a long-term treatment option for her. After discussing Interstim as a treatment option, and performing a quick in office test for interstim, Claudette agreed that she would be a great candidate for this treatment. At her four week postoperative appointment Claudette was extremely pleased with her results.
"I am so glad I had the Interstim placed. I can do everything I want without leaking at all. I don't always have to think about where the nearest bathroom is and make sure I'm right next to it. The office test was routine and very thorough, I had no problems with it. The actual procedure was not painful at all, and I didn't have any pain after the procedure. This has changed my life because I can go for long rides, shopping and I don't have to stop to use the bathroom. I don't have to change my clothes twice in one day any longer.
